Political Science In My Profession

by: Herbert A. Huyo

A country such as the Philippines has its own form of a government and Constitution that protects the welfare of its citizens. It has its own laws which are similar and different to some other states of the world. There are things that are illegal here but legal to other countries.

As a future nurse, having a Political Science background in our field is advantangeous and important since most of our tasks are chart-related which means that what we did will be reflected in the nurse's notes. Here, we will be able to defend some of the things that involves us whenever we will be accused of maltreatment or anything. With this kind of subject, we will also be able to study and know regarding the Bill of Rights wherein we can clearly see what are the rights and privileges of each and every individual that our constitution was designed to in order to protect the interest of its citizens.

Here, we will be able to understand when we are going to limit our rights that will prevent us to overlap the rights of other individuals that could further lead to conflict.

Being a nurse, it is our primary duty to respect the rights of our patients. We need to preserve the right to life since we are the protector of life. However, in some state, euthanasia is implemented, but in this country, mercy killing is prohibited. It is a very big NO, NO, NO in our profession and to our motherland thus we need to protect the life of our countrymen as a nurse and as a citizen of this nation.

In case of National crisis, even though we are just a nurse, at least we should be able to protect and help our people. And also in case of war, we should be prepared to defend our territory because this is our only home wherein we are accepted as an individual, as a Filipino.
